Spring Gardens
I really got started late this year in the gardens. There were lots of reasons for this but suffice it to say I've felt like I was playing catch up for the past few weeks!
The new fence was installed a couple of weeks ago. I'm so glad to have that broken down one gone! I've planted Hyacinth Bean Vine along it so it should be covered with beautiful purple blooms in a couple of months. I chose this particular vine because it is fast growing and attracts hummingbirds and butterflies!
My rosemary is getting quite large! I've got some cuttings rooting on the kitchen windowsill. I'd like to put another one out in the front flower bed.
The purple fountain grass is slow coming up this year. We planted it in front of those beautiful utility boxes in the back corner. Last year they did a beautiful job of masking all that ugliness!
This is where the hot tub used to be. The tree in the pot is a Tangerine tree! It is loaded with baby tangerines! They won't be ripe until August or September.
The vegetable garden is doing quite well. The Zucchini is producing like crazy and I've got quite a few baby Cucumbers. I planted nearly a dozen tomato plants this year. Some in pots, some directly in the ground and some in the raised bed. I'm curious to see which ones do the best. Most of the onions and all of the carrots have been pulled. Lettuce and spinach are all done until the Fall garden goes in.
With all the rain we've gotten over the last week everything is very happy! We shall see how the summer plays out!
I have to say, playing in the dirt is one of my favorite things to do. Now that the gardens are maturing it is fun to see how all this "work" is paying off.
How is your garden doing?
