The Only Reason I Go To Walmart (almost)

The Only Reason I Go To Walmart (almost)

If you were to snoop around in my pantry/cabinets/closets you would very quickly figure out that I really REALLY don't like the packaging most anything comes in. I will decant almost everything and put it in glass jars. I even put mouthwash in a different glass bottle!

I love the look and the fact that I can see at a glance how much I have left of any particular item. I also think it prolongs the shelf life of many things. Another benefit is that this protects things from unwanted bugs etc. I save glass jars of all shapes and sizes and have even been known to buy an item just for the jar! (I know, a little nuts but hey, I've got some cool jars!)

So you are probably wondering what all this has to do with Walmart? Getting there! Be patient.

Another thing I love is candles! Mostly I love my Yankee Candles the best, but I'm not opposed to trying out a different brand if they've got a scent I like, which is mostly spicey scents. A few weeks ago, on a trip to Walmart, to get vacuum cleaner bags I happened to notice an end cap with Better Homes and Gardens candles displayed. (Yes, that marketing ploy worked that day!) Never one to walk by a candle and not lift the cap to smell it, I stopped and sniffed. The Apple Pumpkin wasn't half bad!

Wandering down the aisle I noticed that they had a small jarred candle for $1.00 in the Apple Pumpkin scent! I bought a couple of them and promptly burned and used them up within a few days. The label on the front says that it is easy peel and it really is! ( I hate labels too!) After washing the jar out I noticed it was very similar to my spice jars I had bought at World Market. The World Market jars cost me almost $2.00 each! Well, you know the rest. One thing led to the other and I have now purchased, burned and refilled about $20 worth of these little gems.

I also bought the larger size jars and have done the same with them. Win! Win! Candles to burn and cute little jars for herbs and spices, buttons, Advil etc.

Sooooooo.... I've found one reason to occasionally visit Walmart. Believe me.... That's about the only reason. Besides vacuum cleaner bags.
