Autumn Mantle Arrangement

Last weekend we were in Abilene to celebrate our son, Luke's 21st birthday. Going to Abilene is always a great time as there are so many people there who have been friends for years and who we love dearly.

We stayed this time with Dennis and Brenda Greer. We've known Dennis and Brenda for nearly 20 yrs. and so any time we get to spend together is wonderful. During the last few years of our time at Dyess, AFB I began making Brenda a Fall wreath or arrangement for her birthday. (Sept. 23) I haven't done one for her since we moved to San Antonio so this trip was the perfect opportunity to revisit the tradition. Brenda and I have very similar tastes and color preferences so doing something like this is always a lot of fun for me as I know if I like it, she'll probably like it too!

I asked Brenda what she'd like to have and after some thought she decided she'd like something for her mantle and so off to Hobby Lobby we went. Here is what the final product looks like.

You can't quite see them but there are 4 (2 small and 2 larger) feather "balls". When Molly and I found them I just knew I needed to add them to this arrangement. They were just TOO cute! The burlap bow was the perfect addition. (I think burlap has made quite a comeback! I've seen it a LOT in decorating ideas lately and when I went to search for some yesterday for my own home I couldn't find any anywhere! Who would have thought burlap would be so chic?!)

The only problem with this was that it made me want to come right home and get my house all decorated for Fall! No problem.... I'm all over it! :)
