Playing Catch Up.

Well, it's been quite a little while since I've posted. I do have really, REALLY good excuses though!

Excuse #1: Our middle child Brianna had the nerve to get married the Saturday after Thanksgiving. That, in and of itself was enough but then...
Excuse #2: Surgery #1 and then...
Excuse #3: Christmas...
Excuse #4: Surgery #2...
Excuse #5: The dog ate my computer... Okay, maybe that one is a little far fetched but the others really were valid! Brian did surprise me with a new ipad which has taken a bit to get used to. Does that count??

As I sit here writing it strikes me how quickly life gets away from you! Time flies and before you know it you've "lost" a couple of months. Of course, some of that time I was blissfully unaware as anesthesia is a really wonderful thing! Okay, maybe that only accounts for about 4 hours of my life but, then, they give you really great drugs when you've had surgery! This sorta puts things in a bit of a time warp too! Come to think of it, I think I may have slept quite a bit of the last couple of months away!!

ANYWAY, where was I? Oh, yeah, my excuses... Nevermind. I'm betting you really don't even care a whole lot about 'em!

One of the things that has been taking a lot of my attention these days is my Piano Studio. I am pretty convinced I have the BEST job in the entire world! I mean, seriously, I get to teach kids how to drive their parents insane by the daily repetition of simple and often annoyingly silly tunes. (I have a piano studio) And they pay me for it!!! Seriously! I don't honestly think I realized how much fun it would be nor how quickly the number of students I have would increase! Now, understand, I'm not complaining... I LOVE what I do. It's just that things are kinda almost getting outta hand! And, by the way, whats up with all the BOYS taking lessons these days? I've enrolled 3 boys in the last two weeks! HOW COOL IS THAT???

On another note: I recently visited the Dr. to try to get some relief from this insane Mt. Cedar that most people in the Hill Country of San Antonio suffer with. Every solution I had tried was to no avail so ... against my personal convictions (I'M JUST KIDDING!) I made an appointment and trotted on over to see Dr. Pailey. The short version (and I know you'll be happy I'm skipping to the short version) is that he decided, quite on a whim I'm sure, to run a basic allergy test on me. "What will you be testing for specifically?", I asked him. "Oh, the usual, dogs, cats, dust, mt. cedar (standard only to those who live in Texas I'm sure.) mold etc." "It had BETTER NOT come back I'm allergic to dogs", I rather sternly proclaimed.
Famous last words. I AM allergic to dogs. Now how in the world? I've never, ever, since the day I had my second birthday, NOT had a dog. I love dogs. I don't know how to exsist without a dog. SERIOUSLY! If there isn't a dog laying somewhere under foot in my house I'm pretty sure the feeling is similar to standing in my front yard stark naked. I know this because I went two weeks (ok, I lied before) without a dog in my house. I swore I needed a "break" from having hair to clean up. Yeah, that lasted two weeks. And, just to ensure there never be a lack of four legged beast (that woofs) I went out and got TWO dogs. Currently, I have 4. Yes, don't judge! All four of them piled up together don't even come close to being as big as my Sophie (our beloved Golden who has gone on to puppy heaven, if there is such a place.) And please, I don't need to get comments giving me all the reasons why you don't (or do) believe that animals are going to be in heaven.
Back to the allergy topic. Dogs weren't the only thing I'm apparently allergic to. Cats, which I already knew, Mt. Cedar, Uhmmmm DUH?, grass, dust, mold and "various pollens".
So, I know what you're thinking... "So are you going to get rid of your dogs?" If this question has crossed your mind, please go back to the part of the above paragraph and re-read. Just in case I didn't make it clear how I feel about dogs. Maybe one day I'll do a post on why I think it's such a good idea to have a dog.... maybe. First, I should probably get this post actually posted and get reliable at actually keeping up with posting?!
So there you have it. Why I haven't put anything on the blog in awhile. I'm sure you all were just waiting on pins and needles wondering?!
I think I'll go pet a dog.

  1. Sue, I know what you mean about pets, only it's cats with me. I have been without a cat now for about 5 months, and I think I'm going through withdrawals. I think I see a Maine Coon in my near future! Glad you are back to posting!

  2. So sorry about all the allergies especially to the dogs. Its funny that i have always thought that if I had another dog it would be one like your dogs...but minus the hair! I am so tired of the hair...
